Classic American Novels to Read on Your Charter Bus Service

Some people can read while traveling on a charter bus service, some people can’t. If you’re one of the lucky ones who can, here are some great reads you’re sure to love:

The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famous novel is set in the glamorous, wealthy world of Long Island and New York City in the roaring 1920s. It tells the story of the mysterious Jay Gatsby, who hosts lavish parties to impress his old flame Daisy Buchanan, who’s married to hot head  Tom.

Freedom – Jonathon Franzen’s Freedom, although published in 2010, has all the hallmarks of classic American fiction. It follows members of a typical nuclear family, the Berglunds, and uncovers their hopes, joys,  sorrows, and flaws. It’s been hailed by critics as a masterpiece which easily lives up to Franzen’s previous work, The Corrections.

The Catcher in the Rye – J.D. Salinger’s famous 1951 novel follows the rebellious and angst-ridden teenager Holden Caulfield, who’s disillusioned with the world, which he believes to be “phony.” He takes a train to New York City, where he experiences an adult world of prostitution, alcohol and drugs, before deciding to move out west.

Next time you’re on your charter bus nyc, get absorbed in any of these books, and time will fly.
